I took a call from my Best Man in 1976, Carl Olsen, on the evening of my 68th birthday.
It’s a long standing tradition.
The fact Carl now lives next to the beach in New South Wales, Australia simply adds to the fun .
It was midnight there, but this time he rang from a hospital bed.
His lovely wife Helen was with him.
None of us will live forever, but now is never a good time to say goodbye.
Thankfully, 4 hours later he was discharged.
I attach the link to what I believe is Lennon’s best song, “Imagine”
Imagine there’s no heaven, it’s easy if you try
No hell below us, above us, only skies
Imagine all the people living for today, yah hey yeah
Imagine there’s no countries, it isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for, noAnd no religion, too, oh
Imagine all the people living life in peace, yoo ooo
You, you may say I’m a dreamerBut I’m not the only oneI hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as oneImagine no possessions, I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
