|How bad can things get?|
I’m not an Arsenal fan.
Never have been.
When I lived in London I joined the Arsenal supporters club so I could buy a ticket to a match against my team.
But I vividly remember the days when “boring boring Arsenal” was chanted at football grounds. They may have won the double in 1970 but it was with a style of football that didn’t win friends.
But when Arsenal appointed Arsene Wenger in 1996, they began to enjoy stylish success.
The problem with many football fans however is that success is measured by the score, and is assessed every 90 minutes.
Unless you win every game, in their eyes you fail.
Short termism is of course a nonsense.
Not in football, nor relationships, nor in politics.
