2016 has been quite a year for WASPs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants), many of whom decided that because their government wasn’t supportive of their plight, voted them out of office and voted in the unknown.
In the UK it meant a win for a Brexit team led by the far right, headed by a charismatic but unknown Nigel Farage
In the USA it meant victory for a charismatic but unknown Donald Trump.
In the last 100 years the US and GB have been the conscience and police force of the World.
In the battle with Hitler and the reconstruction of Europe, they acted wisely and heroically.
But sometimes, as in the reparations forced on Germany in the 1920’s, and in their Vietnam and Iraq adventures , they’ve behaved like knob heads
Today we welcome Donald Trump as the US President from next January.
I’ll view him critically but fairly
What I know of him so far isn’t good, but perhaps he’ll change.
There’s a chance we may yet escape the nonsense of Brexit, but we’ll probably be stuck with Trump for 4 more years.
