Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff has died of lung cancer, aged 68.
He was voted world player of the year three times, guided Holland to the World Cup final in 1974 and as a manager he spent eight years in charge of Barcelona.
By now he will be in a formidable Heaven X1 team including Ron Springett, Bobby Moore, Duncan Edwards, and Ronnie Clayton.
What a team.
The type of total football he advocated was good.
In his hey days during the 70’s he was an attacking midfielder and a forward player.
He led his team to the final of the 1974 FIFA World Cup, and went on to manage Ajax, Barcelona and Catalonia.
Johan Cruyff was voted European Player of the Century in an election held by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics, and ranked second behind Brazilian legend Pelé in its World Player of the Century poll in 1999.
