A whiter Shade of Pale, Homburg, and Salty Dog are all beautiful melodies of Procol Harum, one of my favourite bands of all time.
Though nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 they didn’t make the grade!
Evenso, what a band they were.
In 1967 they released A Whiter Shade of Pale, one of the most enigmatic songs ever.
I remember as a youth learning to play it on the piano.
https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/St6jyEFe5WM&source=udsI thought my boat had come in when at a working man’s club I played the organ introduction for the local village bully, bue to sing the lead, only to lose my place before the end of the introduction and excusing myself began to repeat the piece.
Again I lost my place, and this was too much for the bully to bear, and he stormed off stage…
A Whiter Shade of Pale. The words seem meaningless but the melody is beguiling.
And the keyboard player is iffy.
