What’s in it for me – self interest

Well done Barack Obama. You’ve won a
place in history. Because you have black roots you are an underdog, and your success will encourage all minorities – non-whites, women, homosexuals, and Accrington Stanley supporters worldwide.

Some years ago I saw charismatic marketing presenter Murray Raphael in Montreux, and he left me in no doubt that people walk around with a WIFM badge pinned to their lapel.  Why?

Because “What’s In It For Me” (WIFM) is the most powerful  motivator there is when it comes to the majority of people deciding which brand they should buy, or who they should put their cross next to a coming election.

We are mostly interested in our own short term self interest, shameful though that is, because in the long term we are all dead.

Now 70, I'm getting back into website development and brand protection, as well as showcasing the delightful artistic talents of my beautiful wife Lynne. My projection will encompass a lifetime of database marketing, as well as the Christian democratic socialist ideals of my wife and I.
