Age is but a teaspoon

My 62nd birthday on September 5th was a very good day, beginning with  a call from my favourite Italian ex Mother-in-law  at 07.15, and continuing with a “Happy Birthday to You” á la Marilyn Monroe from my Australian bird, songstress Helen May Olsen, from Bilgola beach.

There’s beauty in every age, and below you see my mother – 97 next birthday, and pictured here with Jonathan and Edward, both now in Manhattan (Jonathan lives there, Edward on holiday).

A few days ago, suffering from locked-in syndrome, Tony Nicklinson (paralysed from the neck down and only able to communicate through eye movements) wanted to be allowed to die, but was refused permission by the law courts to have someone end his life.

Mammy also is tired of life, and wants to die. and if you were to experience the quality of life she has been reduced to, you would have empathy.

Of course it would be nice to receive a message from the Queen when and if she reaches 100, but is that what it’s all about?

I don’t think that even for Prince Philip that is the motivating force.

But think again of my Harriette Rose, not far from the start of life’s race.

We introduced her this week to the hobby of collecting tea spoons, which Great Grandma has collected for years, and as we did we all learned such a lot from tea spoons to celebrate Lady Diana’s entry to the Royal family, and from those given to her as souvenirs from trips to Melbourne, New York, and Bridlington.

Age is but a teaspoon.

Now 70, I'm getting back into website development and brand protection, as well as showcasing the delightful artistic talents of my beautiful wife Lynne. My projection will encompass a lifetime of database marketing, as well as the Christian democratic socialist ideals of my wife and I.
