The season starts today

Hi Jonathan and Alice

It doesn’t yet feel like the start of the football season, with England digging in deep to retain their world number one spot at Lords, but even so I’m glued to the radio to listen to the opening game of the season, where after being 2-0 down at half time Wednesday fought back to draw level.

Better news is that Wednesday have been drawn to play Fulham in the Football League Cup. You’ll remember that we all went to see Fulham beat Wednesday 2-1 in the FA Cup in 2009. Today, Fulham thrashed Norwich 5-0, but in a day of mixed fortunes for the Potts family, QPR lost 5-0 at home to Swansea.
Spurs Newcastle v Spurs kick off tonight.
Incidentally, in the cricket match, Yorkshire’s Johnny Bairstow scored 95 as England finished 6 runs ahead of the Proteas.
They’re now in the second innings.
